The summit seks to address challenges faced by youth and students and facilitate conversations that will lead to the inclusion in decision making and policy implementation in the Commonwealth. It will also provide capacity development and leadership training opportunities for youth and student leaders and other participants.

About the Summit


The Commonwealth Students Association (CSA) Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) and Pan African Youth Union aims have Commonwealth Youth and Students Summit for African Region to be hosted under the auspices of Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in Nigeria. The summit which will be sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in Nigeria seeks to create an avenue where crucial conversations about strengthening and promoting the leadership capacity of youth and student leaders in the Commonwealth can be initiated and advanced with actionable outcomes. With a prime focus on the role student and youth leaders can and should play in the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Summit will also facilitate opportunities to build their capacities, and empower them to become advocates for promoting quality education and youth inclusion and protecting the rights of students. In addition, the summit would promote the inclusion youth of student leaders in core decision making processes to ensure youth and student voices are heard in the drive to promote quality education job creation and youth empowerment across the African region of the Commonwealth

The Summits brings together youth and students leaders in the higher education and youth development sector from Commonwealth African countries in order to promote networking opportunities, enable collaboration among student and youth organisations, advocate for the rights and responsibilities of students and, to foster a sustainable learning environment and promote youth development in l institutions within the Commonwealth.

The Summit will produce a Declaration titled “Africa Youth and Students Declaration” which will contain the asks/demands related to the subthemes. There will be breakout sessions after each plenary in order to give participants an opportunity to give input on each of the thematic areas. The summit declaration committee will extract point made during each session so as to harmonize and guide the final input that will be on the declaration paper. at final day of the summit the declaration session will be made in presence of all the policy makers, national students organization and youth organization for adoption

Who Should Attend


The summit welcomes student leaders, youth council executives and youth ministry officials from the twenty-one Commonwealth African countries. The meeting will involve the Global Students Forum, European Students Union, All Africa Students Union, Organizing Bureau of European School Students Union , Pan African Youth Union leaders in the higher education and the youth sector. The forum will incorporate thought leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, non-governmental organisations, senior executives who are leading digital transformation, business unit and functional leaders who are executing the digital transformation and International Organisation on education such as UNESCO, Commonwealth Of Learning and, The Association of Commonwealth Universities, Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
